San Diego, CA (May 17, 2012) – Proving that the spirit of vengeance is timeless, Bram Stoker Award-winning author and co-screenwriter of the original The Crow film,John Shirley, has teamed with Eisner Award-nominated,Fishtown artist Kevin Colden, to bring the dark spirit back to comics. Concurrently, the film’s producer Edward R. Pressman, in conjunction with Relativity Media and Dimension Films, is in pre-production on a gritty reinvention of the 1994 cult classic to be directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez (Before the Fall) and written by Jesse Wigutow.
The comic book, which explores its own unique storyline from the film, is set in Tokyo, Japan where the Crow returns in the guise of a foreign exchange student named Jamie Osterberg. When Haruko, the love of his life, is stolen away from him, Jamie must search for answers–ones that turn deadly, and transform him into the spirit of vengeance, the Crow! When a brilliant particle physicist dies unexpectedly, the race is on to secure his terrible new technology before it falls into the wrong hands. The lives of four playable characters become entangled as they fight against the clock to find the dead scientist’s secret vault. The suspicions they harbor, the memories they guard, the connections they share — all will converge as these four ordinary people work together to prevent a potentially cataclysmic disaster.
Its 2D pixel-art graphics and intuitive point-and-click interface may be reminiscent of the “good old days,” but Resonance puts a new twist on classic adventure gameplay with its unique long-term and short-term memory systems. In addition to the more traditional inventory, dialogue, and exploration-based gameplay typical in adventure games, Resonance allows players to “collect” memories within the game. Each of the four playable characters can use these memories to solve puzzles or start conversations with any of the game’s other characters, providing a wealth of interactive possibilities.
