Now Reading: Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes
The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes by Neil Gaiman My rating: 4 of 5 stars Would you believe I never read any of the Sandman comics? (I KNOW!! RIGHT?) Preludes and Nocturnes is a brilliant introduction to a character. Morpheus comes back and has to retrieve his artifacts from different realms, including a ruby that contains his power. The problem is this ruby has fallen into the hands of...

X-Force/Cable: Messiah War by Duane Swierczynski...
In true X-Men fashion, X-Force travel to yet another Post Apocalyptic Dystopian Future to save Cable and Hope. Who’s Hope? You have to be a regular reader of X-Men to know who she is but for those who are unfamiliar with the current roster of Muties, all is explained in this volume. Although not essential reading, it does add scope to the upcoming Avengers vs. X-Men event. Loyal X-Men...

A quick thought about women and ethnic groups in...
You have to be vocal! Pop culture is a very interesting machine these days. There are very few people, most of them male and Caucasian, who are in charge of deciding what gets made into a movie, TV show or comic book. They need voices to question them. Invisible Children and Kony 2012 →
I’ve seen posts on the Internet researching and thinking critically about the movements they are asked to support. In the interest of fairness, however, “research” should not be limited to articles on reddit or tumblr, or blogs that cite political science students in Canada. I do support the idea of publicizing KONY’s name far and wide. For those interested, here is...

DC Comics to relaunch Shazam on March 27 -... →
Ugh. According to the article, Captain Marvel’s name will be changed to “Shazam” And his costume will be changed to this hoodie version below.
He still changes to Billy Batson but has “a penchant for causing electrical appliances to explode.” Great, so I guess he won’t be working at Sears. The Big Red Cheese has a strong and loyal following, I can’t...
